In The Day

Jesus said, "As it came to pass in the days of Noah, so also shall it be in the days of the Son of Man, they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying.. till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came.. As it came to pass in the days of Lot, they were eating, they were drinking, ..selling, ..planting, ..building, and on the day Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven.." - from Luke 17:26-29.

The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

Revelation Chapter by Chapter (#5)

(but not in order)

I'm going to come right out and say it.. Parts of Revelation we can see came riding out upon the pages and stage of history. Granted, the horsemen (and the rest of the Seals) may indeed escalate at the 'end' - from a horses canter to a gallop? - but I don't think we should confine Revelation to a box titled "seven years only".

The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

      Chapter Six: 1-8

Verse quotes are, for the most part, from - http://biblehub.com/interlinear/revelation/6-1.htm and the "Berean Literal" or "Study Bible" - http://biblehub.com/revelation/6-1.htm

1 - And I (John) watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as a voice of thunder, "Come!"

2 - And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

  •  Cross references:
  •  Revelation 19:11 - Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war. (And conquers!)
  • Colossians 2:14-15 - Having blotted out the handwriting in the decrees against us (having erased the charges that were brought against us via the law) which was hostile to us, He has taken out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. And having stripped the principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly -- having triumphed over them. (The Victorious Gospel / the Good News rode forth conquering!)

3 - And when He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come!"

4 - And another horse went forth, bright red; and to the one sitting on it, to him was granted to take the peace from the earth, and that they will slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.

  • To war, a great sword was given

5 - And when He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come!" And I looked, and behold, a black horse, and the one sitting on it having a pair of scales in his hand.

  • Much mercantilism.. scales in its hands.

6 - And I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and you should not injure the oil and the wine."

7 - And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come!"

8 - And I looked, and behold, a pale horse, and the one sitting on it, the name of him was Death, and Hades [note: "the place of the dead" / the grave] was following with him; and authority was given to them over the fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with plague, and by the beasts of the earth.
The grave following.. including the mass grave? From sword, famine and plague.. wild beasts/wild governings? "on a pale horse" - plague? Including chemical?

Book of Revelation Chapter by Chapter

Revelation Chapter by Chapter (#1)

WHY READ THE BOOK OF REVELATION?

Verses 1:1-3 - This is How the Book Opens

1. This book is the record of the events that Jesus Christ revealed. God gave him this revelation in order to show to his servants what must happen very soon. Christ made these things known to his servant John by sending his angel to him, 2. and John has told all that he has seen. This is his report concerning the message from God and the truth revealed by Jesus Christ. 3. Happy is the one who reads this book, and happy are those who listen to the words of this prophetic message and obey what is written in this book! For the time is near when all these things will happen.

"If you have ears.. listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.." 2:7;11;17;29; 3:6;13;22

The Seven Letters - Keep our first love for the Lord alive. Persevere, endure, know we are rich. Do not be distracted and sidetracked by other (seemingly) glittery things; or teachings and thus fall away or backslide.

"...He loves us, and by his sacrificial death he has freed us from our sins" ("sin" - #G266 - "sin, failure, missing the mark" He has freed us from our sin, from our failure, from our missing the mark) - 1:5

Don't fall asleep. Keep safe what we have so our victory be not stolen. We, and our eyes, must be anointed.

"If you do not wake up, I will come upon you like a thief, and you will not even know the time when I will come." 3:3

"The Devil will put you to the test by having some of you thrown into prison, you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful to me, even if it means death, and I will give you the crown of life." 2:10

"Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him.." 1:7

"To him who is overcoming -- I will give the right to eat the fruit of the tree of life that grows in the Garden of God.. (they) will not be hurt by the second death.. I will give (to them) some of the hidden manna, and a white stone on which is written a new name that no one knows except the one who receives it.. (they) will be clothed in white, and I will not remove their names from the book of the living. And in the presence of my Father and of his angels I will declare openly that they belong to me.. I will give (them) the right to sit beside me on my throne, just as I have been victorious and now sit by my Father on his throne. He who is having an ear -- listen to what the Spirit says to the churches!

To those who win the victory, who continue to the end to do what I want, I will give to them authority over the nations, and they shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter they shall be broken, as I also have received from my Father; and I will give to them the morning star.

Because you have kept my command to be patient, I will also keep you safe from the time of trouble which is coming upon the world to test all the people on earth. I am coming soon. Keep safe what you have, so that no one will rob you of your victory. I will make those who are victorious to be pillars in the temple of my God, and they will never leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which will come down out of heaven from my God. I will also write on them my new name."

2:7;11;17;26-28; 3:5;10-12;21

"Listen! I stand at the door and knock.." 3:20

What A Paradox

We find ourselves between a rock and a hard place! Perhaps this has been true of life all down through the centuries. These days, we don't want Corporations to be too big and powerful, nor do we want them to be able to abuse and pollute the planet and the air we breathe. For this results in the abuse of people.

On the other hand, we have government, which we can endow with ever more and more administration and offices with ever increasing reach and power, in order to control and curb these corporations. But throughout history, government has done an incredible amount of abusing of the people.

But how clever if both ends of this paradox can make it seem as though they are battling each other, but in truth, both ends (sides) are enabling both! While at the same time, their fiery rhetoric divides people and sows deep dislike even hatred between them. And meanwhile both poles of the paradox stealthily just keep on growing.

And where in history has a nation fared for the better if their division turned so bitter, rioting turned into battles? Isn't that when beasts are able to rise to the top? Or are we to believe humanity has 'evolved' beyond such.. We can't only consider today, but also tomorrow. Where will the trends we set in motion lead?

If we don't like corporations, why don't we quit buying so much of their stuff? Buy less, live simpler lives. Buy local. Do the research. Or will it simply continue (and progress?) this shaking of the fists of people, toward one another?
