23 - The New Jerusalem doesn’t need the sun or the moon, for the glory of God is its radiance, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 And by its light the nations will walk. And {those who were} the kings of earth will bring [pherΓ³ - carried, to be conveyed] {turn over} their glory into it, 25 and its gates will not be shut by day. There will be no night in the city. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 Nothing impure will enter it, nor anyone who practices what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. [Jn.12:32, 1Tim.4:10]
22:1 - Then the angel showed me the river of the water of Life, clear as crystal flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 And through the middle of the street of the city, and on either side of the river, is the tree of life bearing twelve kinds of fruit, each for its month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing [therapeia - healing, service, care] of the nations.
{Life, clear and pure as crystal.. How do you create genuinely able to think and reason beings, aNd, keep paradise/perfection intact? Total ant farm versus total ‘herd’ immunity.. the dis-ease as part of the cure?}

10 - And he (an angel) carried me (John) in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and he showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem. It was coming down from God, out of heaven, 11 and it shone with his glory. It’s radiance was like a most precious stone, like jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall of twelve gates, with twelve angels at the gates. And on them were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. {Upon believing, we’re “grafted into Israel” Ro.11:17-26.} 13 There were three gates facing east, three facing north, three south and three west.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold with which to measure the city, the gates and the walls. {Note - a rod is a measuring stick, the “iron rod” Jesus will rule the nations with is Truth, which is unbreakable, an unbreakable measure, that breaks all that isn’t true.}
16 The city was as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. [Stadia - a greek measurement, stadium length, the length of a race course, furlong which is an 8th of a mile - 12,000 stadia, between 1,300 to 1,400 miles?]
17 The angel measured the wall using human and angel measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. 18 The wall was of jasper, the city of pure gold, pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The city had twelve foundations, each made of a precious stone, the first jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were of pearl, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure and clear as glass. 22 I didn’t see in the city, a temple, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

[A voice from the midst of the throne continues, makes proclaimation] - 4 - “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death is no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor pain. For the former has passed away.”
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all new.” [All - pas - every, all, the whole]. And he said to me (John), “Write for these words are faithful, and they are true.
6 It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning — and the end. To the one thirsting, I will give from the spring of the water of life freely. {Now.} 7 The one overcoming will inherit all and I will be present with them and they will be my sons and daughters. [Eimi - to be, to exist, to happen, to be present.]
8 But” {I think of this as narrative spoken outside of the vision} “as for the cowardly, the faithless” {now, and still at Jesus’ appearing} “the having become abominable, the murderers, and sexually immoral, and sorcerers [pharmakos], idolaters, and the liars - their portion is in the {armageddon} lake burning [kaiΓ³ - kindled, set fire to] with fire and sulfur which {ultimately} is the second death.” {First death is the one through Adam, second, is the death of death? And of imperfection/entropy. The armageddon lake is the death of empire.. half done.. Or one third done, as there are the three mentions of lake of fire - At Armageddon; At the adversary’s fiery final defeat; And at the fiery Regeneration/Regenesis, Greek word, palin(again)genesis. ..Interesting, death of empire, death of the adversary, which both belong to death, so all wound up in the death of death. All of it the second (and final) death. Per God’s plan who saw all possibilities from the beginning.} {Armageddon, and the entire apocalypse is man done - made up largely of carbon which has 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons - not God done except he created a cause and effect universe (as opposed to an ant farm?) Total Ant Farm versus Total ‘Herd’ Immunity.}
9 Then came to me (John) one of the seven angels, the one who had been holding the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues [plΓ©gΓ© - a blow, stripe, wound; an affliction, plague] {imo, thermonuclear effects, Isaiah 24:20/Rev.10:4}. And now he said to me, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

11 - Then I saw a great white throne (GWT) and he who was seated upon it. And from his face the earth and heavens fled away, and no place was found for them.
12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead [nekros - dead, deceased] were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, death and hades [“place of the dead”] {the grave, state of being gone} [hades - not seen] gave up the dead which were in them and they were judged, each one, according to what they had done. {Same as we were and even now are? And.. “all the world’s a stage”.. (Shakespeare) - proving to one and all, and all together at once..}
14 Then Death and Hades were hurled into the lake of fire. [2Pet.3:12-13 “..the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, the heavenly bodies melting.. (then) a new heavens and a new earth..”] This is the second death, the lake of fire. {The end of death and imperfection/“missing the mark” - One and done! 1Cor.15:24-26. First death is the one come about through, and “in Adam”.}
15 And if [ei - whether, iF] anyone was found, whose name was not written in the book of life {by then} they were thrown [ballΓ³ - thrown, cast, hurled, put, placed] into the lake of fire. 21:1 - And I saw - a new heavens, and a new earth - for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, [were “set on fire” and “dissolved”, the “heavenly bodies/planets and stars melting”] and the sea {separation upon earth} was no more. (Isaiah 11:7)
2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, radiant as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will tabernacle/tent/dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”

7 - And when “the” thousand years are ended, Satan will be released 8 and he will come out to mislead the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog {these are, logically, descendants of mortal survivors of the (man done) apocalypse} and he gathers them for battle. Their number is like the sand at the seashore. 9 And they marched up over all the broad plain of earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. {Do we imagine this takes but a moment or two..?} But - fire - came from the heavens and consumed them. 10 And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and false prophet had been thrown, and {he} will be tormented day and night - to - the ages of the ages. {The two others are institutions active at Jesus’ return.}

1 - Then I (John) saw an angel descending from heaven. He held in his hand the key to the abyss, and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil [diabolos - devil, accuser, slanderer] and Satan [satanas - adversary] and bound him for a thousand years. {God has been permissive? letting things run course, even a semi ant farm is no paradise, so this ‘quick” unavoidable, all important one & done first, 1Tim.4:10.}
3 And then the angel threw him into the abyss. {Imperfection/straying/going rogue is an abyss of potential.} And he shut it and sealed it over him, so he could not deceive the nations any longer, untiL, “the” thousand years are over.
After that, he must be released for a little while. {Which will be for the first half of an “8th” millennium.. According to the pattern of the Fall holy days, Leviticus 23, and this chapter, although it’s portrayed like describing the crests of waves, but not much of the in between.}
4 And I saw thrones. [Thronos - seats of authority, from thrao - to sit, or thranos - bench.] And those sitting [kathizΓ³ - sitting, settled, seated] upon them, and judgment was given them and those beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus, and the word [logos - message, reasoning expressed in words] of God, which did not worship the beast, or the image of it, and didn’t take its mark [xΓ‘ragma - brand-mark, originally any impress on a coin or seal used by an engraver on a die (stamp, branding iron) and later became an identification-marker, an owner's unique brand-mark] upon their forehead and hand, and they live and reign with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead do not live again until the thousand years are completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed [makarios - blessed, happy, fortunate] and holy [hagios - holy, sacred, set apart] are those who have a part {& role?} in the first resurrection! Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests [hiereus - ministers in priestly office] {minister what to whom?} of God and of Christ, and they will reign [basileΓΊΕ - exercise dominion] with him {for/during} the thousand years. {And during GWT judgment ‘day’? Serving called reigning..}
