(Review: out of the smoke {of widespread warfare?} came loud locust like tormenting mankind for five months. {Marshall Law enforced?})
- When the sixth angel blew his trumpet, I (John) heard a voice coming from the four horns {directions/winds?} of the golden altar before God, 14 and it said to the sixth angel who had the sixth trumpet, “Release the four angels that have been bound at the great river Euphrates.”
So the four angels, prepared {by whom?} for the hour, day, month, and year, were released that they may slay a third of mankind. 16 The number of mounted troops - twice ten thousand times ten thousand is the number I heard. {This is at the 6th trumpet blast, so late. The revelation vision is told three times. Like a production with sort of(?) “meanwhiles” or, seeing it from different aspects — 6:1-2 to 11:19; ch.12, verse 17 w/ Mt.23:39; and 13:1 to 19:11.. the three rejoining at the 7th trumpet’s sounding at armageddon battle w/ harpazo, Mt.13:30! Imo.}
And this is the appearance of the horses in the vision, and those sitting atop them having fiery breastplates {shiny, reflective?} and hyacinth (dark blue or deep purple) and brimstone/sulfur {blue-ish. yellow, and fiery red?} And their heads were like lion heads (big) and fire, smoke, and sulfur came out of their mouths. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire (red), smoke (deep blue?) and brimstone (yellow) coming out of their mouths. (Previously, Rev.8:13 had said, “Woe! Woe! Woe [ouai - alas! woe!] to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts (that were) about to be sounded by the other three angels!” Trumpets five - locusts like out of the smoke; six - lion like for war; and seven.] 19 For the power of the {lion like} horses [6th trumpet] is in their mouths and in their tails, for their tails are like serpents with heads, and by means of them they wound. {Make war?}
The rest of mankind, who weren’t killed by these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands. [Their works - ergon - work, deeds, actions, labors {agenda?}] Nor did they repent/turn from their worshiping of demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood, which can’t see, hear, or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders and their sorceries [pharmakos - poisoning, sorceries, magic, enchantments, mesmerising] nor did they repent of their sexual immoralities and thefts.
